Ariana is 14 years old
and in the 8th grade at the Jose Santos Guardiola public
school. She lives in the community of Colonia Balfate, in the house
pictured, with 4 other family members: her step-father, mother, sister (10),
and brother (9).
What do you like about living on Roatan?
"I like to play soccer, go to the beach with my brother and sister and
mother and swim a lot." What are your favorite
foods? shrimp, rice, and marinero soup
What is your favorite TV show? soccer
What chores do you do around the house? "I
help my mother do everything at home and also help her to sell things at the
beach."
What career do you want to have in the future?
a lawyer
What do you like to do with your friends?
"Have a good time and play soccer, and we all swim in the sea."
Why do you like to play soccer? "Because
I love being with my friends at the field. I have a good time playing
with them."
What church do you attend, and what do you like about
it? "I go in Coxen Hole, and I like to speak with God."
What do you think about when you think about God?
"That He loves all of us and that He is good and is powerful."
What is something that has happened in your life that
made you very happy? "The happiest is when I play soccer
with my friends and when the team went out on the boat and I swam with them."
What is something that has happened in your life that
made you very sad? "When my father died and my grandma
left Roatan for the coast. I thought I was going to have to leave my
friends too, but now we are going to stay."
If someone was going to pray for you, what would you
want them to pray about? "That my family is happy and that
I don't have problems with my friends. I need to study a lot."
