The people in the Berrinche needed a new bridge

Hurricane Mitch destroyed or damaged most of it

The middle section only needed to be re-built

The East end needed to be extended

The West end was completely gone

New posts were cut . . .

. . . hauled . . .

. . . and pounded into the ground

The kids helped with the nailing

The East end was extended 40 feet

The West end can be crossed once again

Many children came to play

It was a just as tiring "playing" as it was constructing

They received some special gifts when we left

That is a lot of weight being held up

No more wet and muddy feet!

We delivered donated goods to Colonia Balfate

The paths were steep . . . at least it wasn't raining

We felt for the families who must walk them everyday

The people here have little material wealth

The families were those of the girls in the soccer program

We delivered clothes, toys, and other items

The little soccer "field" in Colonia Balfate needs some improvements

We busted up this huge boulder

The wrong kind of effort

Making a new friend

The last chunk eventually came out

We created a carnival for kids in Brick Bay

Friendship bracelets were popular

So was face painting . . .

. . . and stickers

Throwing bean bags

She got a balloon . . .

. . . and they got some candy

Everyone had fun!

The local public high school is called Colegio Guardiola

We installed some new basketball hoops

The girls played . . .

. . . doing their best . . .

. . . then the guys played

Honduras beat the USA in both games

Lots of fans got out of school early to watch

The boys then played futbolito

It is like soccer on a hard court

The girls played volleyball

This was the only victory for the USA on the trip

We relaxed on the dock one afternoon

Time to cool off!

Our pal Enrique helped with all of our activities

These 4 recent U of I grads became our friends and helped as well

Delivering a special card . . .

. . . and gift

Feeding some iguanas

We went way out to Mud Hole to visit the school

The girls helped with the studying

The guys built soccer goals . . .

. . . and installed a new basketball hoop

They liked the goals . . .

. . . and the new hoop

A Roatan revival event

Our girls took on the girls in the Sandy Bay soccer program

These girls are fast!

It was very hot, but we stuck it out

Honduras 1, USA 0

The guys played one of the local teams

We won't mention the score
