Mission Roatán was founded by Joey Gruner in 2003. After over 20 years serving the people of Honduras, over $1 million donated, and nearly 200 people led on trips to serve and learn, Mission Roatán was preparing to wind down its activities in late 2024. Joey was approached by friend and founder of La Clínica Esperanza, Peggy Stranges, with an idea to breathe new life into the organization by shifting its focus to healthcare. This idea was readily welcomed by the board, and the organization transtioned to new leadership in 2025.
